The application form I'm filling out is asking me if I'm disabled as defined by the Equality Act 2010. I'm reading the online guidance and I really don't know.

I've had depression and anxiety with recurrences happening over a period much longer than 12 months that have, when bad, severely restricted my ability to perform day-to-day tasks. Because of a change in my situation (end of uni, uncertain future) I can feel another dip towards depression and anxiety building (I'm using all my techniques but who knows what'll happen).

I've put no. I'm managing it for the moment. I'm hoping that it doesn't cause a breakdown again - it's manifested in different ways; agoraphobia and OCD, as well as more general depression. Maybe I should put yes? What if I did get the job and then it flares up and they get angry/sack me for concealing it?

I've lost my CV. That means after having put hours into a CV that would only need a little editing to add in the degree, I now have no CV and have to start from scratch. Again.

>:(

I hate CV writing! It sucks! Hate it!

Though the good news is that there are, indeed, lots of jobs that I can apply for. But not until I rewrite my CV!

-

One of the items that will go on my CV is note taking and light admin for an event Mum's planning; the event is next year and this evening we may go to view a potential venue. That's why instead of being at uni painting boards white for the show, I'm at home watching property shows and job hunting. (Ok, and reading fic because job hunting and cv writing is scary.) I can't walk through a room with white paint without getting some on me, never mind actually painting and paint speckles aren't exactly the professional look I want to present.

This episode of CSI has really thrown me; they were all confused over what weapon was used, and then all surprised about the qualities of the FN P90. It's the weapon that every sci fi show ever has used. Even Doctor Who has put the FN P90 onto the telly! I'm kind of shocked that it's not on file...

Episode has redeemed itself with a close up of a vulture :D

Well. That's that then. My final module hand in was this morning. I... I stuck out an entire degree course. I did it. I mean. I may not have passed; won't know til the grades come in. But. I did my best, and I worked hard, and I'm done.

So I went and saw Avengers Assemble again. Heh. That was number four, and I feel so, so sorry for everyone who can't go and see it yet! It's a great movie (but really, that's obvious from the adverts).

Now I'm sat having lunch in Costa, just enjoying, you know, not having to feel like 'omgWORKnow'. I'm giving myself a couple of days to de-stress, and then I need to get back to it. They want me to have some finished pages of the next book before the show goes up - preferably by the 10th. Hahaha. Great. I'm still taking a couple of days.

I mean. This project is mine now. :D I can enjoy art again! :D (OK, I'm waiting for that feeling to kick in, but I'm feeling happier in anticipation of that feeling to arrive.) There are things I want to do that I felt I couldn't while I had to work on projects for uni.

Also, the gym. I've been so stressed, and stress eating (and rewarding work with food), and avoiding the (very expensive) gym. So. I've just booked in some classes (thank you Costa for your free internets) and I'm actually looking forward to going! Especially since I've booked in yoga-ish classes as well as Zumba.

My time off is looking like: today - coffee/family chill out time/rest. Tomorrow - Avengers Assemble, see C. Friday - Body Balance (YAY GYM :D), IKEA?, Avengers? Then it's Saturday and I can get on with various projects.

Lol, I just spent the last hour and a half talking Mum through Thor! She was quite confused about who Loki was, and how he managed to have a suit on Earth but shiny armour on Asgard. ("Without having to use a phonebox!")

She decided she was too tired just as Thor returns to Asgard, but I pretty much covered all the Loki feels and what happens after this point already, so... Fairly sure she thinks I'm loopier than ever!

At one point, when she was confused about who Loki was, she asked if Sif was Loki; I think I must have confused her more because I couldn't help explaining a bit about how Loki has, in the comics, taken Sif's form, so she could have been right (except this time she wasn't).

I love this movie.

There are many things I've not said, but this is over a thousand words about Loki feels and a few hundred of other feels and I am tired. I've now seen Avengers Assemble three times, and I want to go again tomorrow morning. Can't though. My coursework won't finish itself! (Plus I expect the cinema will be packed with full screens for Avengers and other movies and that's horrid.)

Weird. I dreamed I was at a tea house, having tea, when a woman from another table reached over and stirred my tea with her teaspoon, then ran off. I then had to try to explain to the management why I wanted another cup of tea, and quite aside from the other-person's-spoon issue, the thing I kept repeating was that her tea had a purple/blue tinge and I'm allergic to lavender and what was in her tea?

I think the tea-dream was a uni stress dream presented in a tea fashion both because I intend to retreat to Costa for a pot while I work, and because I was reading Cara's tea-comic-issues posts before bed.

The reason I'm making this post I'm sure no one will read? In a response to a supportive ask, Cara writes "Ironically the tea I’m drinking tonight isn’t one of my blends, but a blend of Earl Grey and Lavender because it’s the most comforting combination I can think of right now o////o;;;" (emphasis mine). (Quote from here.) Hah, lavender in tea (though most likely it wasn't purple/blue at all).

Wow. I just finished reading the Housemates series by Coneycat over at AO3 and it's... brilliant! Amazing! Absorbing and difficult to step back from to get work done. It's taken me a week to read, partly due to the length (339,949 words over three fics), partly due to getting lots of uni work done in the face of this weeks deadlines.

Essentially, Loki falls, as he is shown to at the end of Thor, but instead of whatever happens to him that puts him near Selvig and the tesseract (as seen in the post-credit clip at the end of Thor) he lands in Bristol, and is taken in by Annie, George and Mitchell - the ghost, werewolf and vampire housemates from the UK series Being Human.

To be honest, only having managed to watch four or five (if that) episodes of Being Human before dropping the series I had repeatedly been put off reading it when stories from the series came up on searches for Loki. In a way, I am glad I was put off, because I needed something long, interesting and not-porny to read in between typing reports and evaluations at my aunt's house. On the otherhand, I could have read all this awesomeness months ago, and could have been re-reading it this past week!

Don't be put off by the Being Human element; this is a Loki-centric series that deals with his attempts to begin to make amends for his actions during Thor, and find a place to belong. The Being Human characters are wonderful, and all the information from that show is made really accessible.

Brilliant! (And about to get put on my Kindle!)

Mouse committed suicide by drowning in our toilet. That was quite a shock!

Though it has meant that I've just had to clean the bathroom while Mum was cleaning the kitchen. Fucking mice.

On the plus side, I went into the bathroom thinking I was going to be sick from all the coughing, but seeing the mouse in the loo shocked me enough that I stopped coughing long enough to catch my breath and feel less like puking! Hurrah!

Why is it that I can breathe well enough during the day, just a little bit of coughing every now and again, and every time I laugh or do something to up my breathing, but as soon as I lie down I end up coughing every two minutes and feel like I can't breathe? I even have my 'sitting up in bed reading' pillow tucked behind me when I try to sleep, dreadful for my back, but I thought it was meant to help prevent coughing at night?

Fucking Friday the 13th.

I had just had a nice shower and decided to get a glass of water before bed.

Three hours ago! Never did get the water because a fucking mouse ran across the kitchen.

A mouse!

I've spent nearly three hours trying to catch it, but I couldn't reach it under the cupboard, and now it's hidden.

Mum made me shut the cats in the kitchen, and I've had to take all the food out of the food cupboard. Oh, and put the cat flap on out only, so if the girls go outside they can't come in again. :(

The worst of it is, it was within reach at one point, but I was too slow to catch it before it went under the washing machine - then behind the kickboard at the base of the cupboards.

I'll buy traps tomorrow, but I'm really unhappy about this, because Mum is terrified of mice.

I don't know what else to do... :(

Battleship was amazing! Spoilers! )

Before the movie started they showed a really odd trailer for Avengers Assemble, which looked like the first trailer that got released rather than the newer one that's been running for a couple of weeks. It didn't include the release date, but something to the effect of 'coming soon' and used the US/international title rather than the UK one.

Ow. I keep coughing (stupid cold) and it's starting to make me feel sick. This is very annoying since having this stupid cough meant I got less than four hours sleep, (I coughed as quietly as possible, and managed to dismiss the need to cough with deep breaths a lot of the time in the cinema - other people were coughing/sneezing too! It's going around the town at the minute :( ) and I have so, so much to do but instead just want to curl up and read. Maybe tear out my right lung, squidge all the yuck out of it and then put it back. It's odd, the left side of my chest doesn't feel weird, it's all on the right. >:(

Saw both 21 Jump Street (much better than I expected!) and We Bought A Zoo (definitely enjoyed it) this week! That, I believe, brings me to 60 movies seen this year!

Right now I'm watching X-Men; yesterday I realized that Marvel is owned by Disney, so the Marvel animated series would probably be showing on the Disney channel, and that we have the Disney channel in our Sky package! We do! They do! And Disney channel wins even more points because this X-Men cartoon? It's the one that I really loved and adored when I was little! :D

Today has been odd so far, we had a little Easter miracle! Teyto brought in a live mouse, and because Mum was feeling unwell yesterday, she was home and downstairs in time to see it and shout. Teyla nearly got the mouse away, but she dropped it and it just sat there. So I got to go outside in my jammies, with a live mouse in my hand! Ok, Mum freaked out and made me put it in the washing up bowl to take it over to the common, but I held a live mouse in my hands this morning and it was so cute!

When I went back to bed (I'm not getting up at half eight on Easter Sunday!) Teyla came for fussing. I briefly considered chucking her off the bed, but she is so cute! She was purring! I couldn't kick her out - so she got fuss, and then when she wandered off, Vala hopped up and got cuddles as well :D

Hahaha. Sky Movies is showing Thor from today, and my brother came in to my room to get my phone (Dad called me - I have signal in the house now I've switched network!) and was all 'you're watching Thor too?' to which the only possible answer was 'of course!'.

Then (after arranging to visit Dad on Sunday) came a long conversation about Thor, and how Odin is not the most awesome Dad but much better than comic!Odin, and Nordic surnames for girls (though no one knew what happens to people with '-son' names when they get married), and then Loki - his awesomeness and his many children. Brother was confused about the whole baby horse incident, his girlfriend took it in her stride though (possibly already knew). She is also excited for the Avengers movie at the end of the month! :D

Aww, we're at the bit where the SHEILD agents are calling in Sif and the Warriors Three to base. I love this movie so, so much! Oh yay! The Destroyer! :D

Oh my god I think I'm going to go crazy if I don't get this stupid fucking comic finished today. It's the same one. It's been the same one for WEEKS. Just several different ways of doing it depending on which artist I'm looking at. It is so boring I feel like stabbing myself so I don't have to draw it any more.

SO BORING.

I have five or six more pages to do with this artist, except I've noticed that I've got repeats across the different versions, so I may have to draw another one. I'll have to see once I get them all scanned and uploaded.

Then, and this is the extra frustrating bit, then I get to pick the bits that worked best and do it all again making roughs (again) and options (again) and then a final finished piece (which will be new, but come from all the boring prep work).

I feel very sad though, that this represents the end of my degree. I feel like I'd like to do it all again, but better! Except that now it's time to try to get work, and that is scary (what if no one wants me? what if it's more tedious than this project? will I ever get illustration work?), and awesome (time to do my own stuff for myself and not to be judged by a random external examiner, yay!). Mostly scary.

Ok. Time to get more stuff done.

There are still four more movies I want to see before the end of the month and a whole heap of movies come out in April.

I've made an appointment for tomorrow with the practice nurse about the bites on my arm. They're still the oddest bites ever, and they haven't gone down at all since I woke up on Saturday. Hopefully she'll be able to help.

Unlike whoever the fuck moved my espresso pot a couple of weeks ago. I had put it next to the sink so that I could clean it. Someone moved it to next to the toaster, where it lives when it is clean.

Naturally, I thought that it had been cleaned! People do that in this house; clean dishes for each other!

So a couple of weeks pass, and I open it up to fill it today (for coffee cupcakes) and what do I find? Mould. That's what. Mould. Mould in the water reservoir. The grinds weren't mouldy, but there was lots of mould in the reservoir.

Bastarding bastardy gits.

The bites are really freaking me out... :(

My lunch can be described two ways; eggy mess and most delicious food ever.

It's... it could have been an omelette, but I was hungry so it turned into scrambled egg with awesome additions.

I started with frozen onions (no need for oil!), cooked them in the frying pan while I microwaved a potato I'd cubed. When the potato was cooked, I tipped it in with some chopped up ham slices, and a sprinkle of salt, pepper and mixed herbs. That cooked for a few minutes, and then I tipped in three beaten medium eggs. That cooked for a minute, and when it was nearly done I tipped in a tiny bit of finely grated cheese. When the egg was cooked it got served and I ate it as quickly as I could then wanted to go back in time so I could eat it again.

In icky news: Ow. Yesterday I woke up with eight bites on my arm, just under my armpit. They don't look like bites I've had in the past; they look more like tiny precision blisters. Oh, and they are arranged in formation; six are arranged in two neat, parallel rows of three, and the remaining two are stationed neatly above and below, about a centimetre out, roughly level with the center line the six bites are lined up parallel with.

Weirdest collection of bites I have ever seen.

There is a lot of Teen Wolf on my tumblr dash at the moment, and that's okay, cause it's a fun show to watch, but every time I see stills/gifs - especially backstage photos, I remember the panel that Dylan O'Brien (Stiles), Tyler Posey (Scott) and Jill Wagner (Kate) did at the MCM Expo and how they could not stop any of their responses disolving into innuendo, and how Tyler Hoechlin (Derek) tastes like potatoes (according to Jill, when asked about licking him).

Presentation yesterday was okay, but not brilliant. One deadline down, three to go!

Been reading Harvey/Mike Suits fic this week. I especially like the Pizzaverse AU; at first glance I didn't like that the second and third parts to the series were Donna and Harvey's PoV retellings, but as I read them, I realised that it was brilliant.

It really sucks that the UK didn't get Suits til now; I feel like I've missed the rush of fannish love for a new show - I remember seeing Suits fic crop up on LJ and other places months ago, but not knowing who everyone was couldn't read and join in. But there are lots of lovely long fics to read, so it's all good in the end, I guess. (Though I am spoiling the series by reading fic, because we're about halfway through, I think, yet stuff that is mentioned across several fics hasn't happened yet.)

Another show that has been fucked up is White Collar. The US is a couple of seasons in, yet the UK has only seen season 1. So I can't read fic because a lot of it references a lot of stuff that's happened, and it's confusing. Stupid British broadcasters :( Also Chuck! Chuck, the final season, hasn't been picked up by any of the channels over here!

Going to go and see The Hunger Games later today! I'm not feeling as well as I'd like (seriously, I think I have a food intolerance, but what I'm intolerant of, I don't know) so I don't know whether I'll be able to do the double bill that I wanted; The Hunger Games followed by Act of Valour. We'll see. The Hunger Games is so wonderful as a book, and Jennifer Lawrence is great, so I hope my expectations aren't too high (Inception really suffered from a failure to meet my expectations. I haven't ever rewatched it, and don't ever plan to; it might be all right, but it's stuck in my mind as a massive disappointment. So much so that every time I flick past the recording on our Sky box, I want to delete it. Sadly, my brother might get angry over that, so it sits eating up precious space that could be used by a movie that didn't suck). (I'm also terrified that the Avengers won't be as awesome as I'm hoping for. D:)

:( Today sucks. It started off great; a flapjack and tea for breakfast in the studio while reading comics with G. Then I started to try to print out my portfolio and my promotional pieces. A task that should have taken an hour max took more than four.

And now I'm trying to untangle the mess I've made of my Tumblrs and website. I need my domain to stop pointing at my tumblr, and start pointing at my hosting space, while several subdomains remain pointing at Tumblrs. One of the Tumblrs is using the URL I want for the main blog, so I've had to change that. At the same time I need to rename that blog as it's not being used in the way it's name suggests.

And great. Changing the blog-name(.tumblr.com) broke all the links. I could cry.

Plus I've just had to change my FTP password because I can't remember it; Filezilla usually has it but I uninstalled that when my laptop had to go in for repair. >:/

(In case of DNS issues, the IP that Tumblr used to use that worked until I started fucking around with everything is: 72.32.231.8)

My friend G was in uni today and had kindly brought in Children's Crusade #9 (which I told her I had) and a Wolverine and the X-Men side story which is at issue #3 of 5 (can't remember the proper title but it has Quire being a jerk and awesome all at once). It was nice to see her, as she's been off busy working on her projects. Also saw E, who I've also not seen in forever. It's nice when there are lots of people in to chat. We end up talking about a load of random crap while we work (or I read. I take my Kindle and read when it's not convenient to have my laptop on/work on other things).

--

Today's post was fantastic; I've got my hardcopy proof, and also Journey Into Mystery 232-234 :D tiny spoiler! ) I also had a severe moment of wondering whether I'd lost my mind to comic books when I looked up from reading them to see two cosplayers stood outside of Costa.

I mean; this is a little Costa near a Tesco (as more and more are), in the middle of a suburb. Not exactly where you expect cosplayers to show up. It was Batgirl and dude from Family Guy! Then they were joined by the 118 guys (a crossplay). It took several minutes before one of them turned and showed that he had a gym's logo on him; there's a gym just down the road, so I guess they were there to get attention and promote the gym? If I'd not had my laptop with me (to write up some of my research evaluation) I'd have gone out and told them that 'get fit for cosplay' is as much a motivation for me not ditching my membership to another branch of the same gym as not wanting to feel like the fat person on the beach when I go to Hawaii.

I went to the newish Costa to work today and ended up writing nearly a thousand words about Luke Pearsons books. I did also manage to get a set of business cards made (well, the files anyway).

When I got home my copy of Children's Crusade #9 had arrived :D So awesome, I love it! :D So I read that before turning my computer back on to scan everything I've been working on/writing about. Spoilers! )

Of course while I was out my battery got low, so I did a bit of reading (my Kindle is still one of my favourite purchases ever) and as ever I was reading one of the A Song of Ice and Fire books spoilers? )

I don't like having Chrome windows, any windows really, take up the whole screen. It makes text take up too much space; it's easier to read if the text I'm reading takes up less than half the width of the screen. This means that roughly a third of the screen can be used by another window, normally that window contains a photo or fanart from Tumblr. I'm a bit stuck at the moment because I simultaneously want one of Phobs' Tony/Loki (swiftly becoming a fav pairing) drawings, and Avali's Lady Loki, and heartbrokengirl's belly dancing Loki. Too much awesome.

Now I should probably get on with cropping the images and uploading them to my research experiment bloggy thing.

I bought Journey Into Mystery 622-631 on Ebay and they arrived in the post today! The reason I bought them is that they have the continuation of the little!Loki storyline from the Thor comic; and today I connected the dots from my interest in this story to my interest in deaged fic. Heh. It's in looking at the personality at a different stage of development, the changes in interaction between characters and seeing what happens when you get a second chance, a clean slate.

I zoomed through the Thor comics that lead up to kid!Loki on Marvel.com the other day; starting pre-Siege with the arrival of Asgard on Earth. Having read Siege from an Avengers book point of view, it was awesome to get it from a Thor point of view. All of Loki's machinations were interesting to read about, plus there was Lady Loki! And Thor being all outcast. And the Bill and Kelda storyline that appeared in Siege made more sense after reading the Thor comics.

This post has taken days to write; I keep getting distracted by work, life or the internet. I only remembered it was open in a tab because I remembered a thought I had last night, that I wanted to share; dude what plays John Carter has become my fancast for Balder. I only thought about it because I was trying to cheer myself up by going through Phobs' Thor fanart and she mentioned Balder. I mean. He's Balder the Bright, and I did try to picture a blond. Briefly it was Chris Pine, but. I dunno. I think Carter guy (whose name I should look up - isn't it Taylor or something like that?) fits best thinking about the comic.

Oh god. I have loads of tabs of Phobs' art open. I mean, I frequently have the sketchdump posts from Deviantart open and scroll around them to a different picture but. The individual drawings at Tumblr have pieces of information with them. Like oh my god the one drawing with Thor and Loki seated with a guy knelt before them, the guy is Svadilfari! Svadilfari! Sleipnir's father. (Artwork is here - while you're there, click around. There's so much awesome.)

--

And look, I got distracted again by Phobs' art. And then a day or so passed. I still have about a billion tabs of art open (though I had to quit Chrome for a bit when I tried to get Photoshop and InDesign to do things at the same time).

I am just about dead. I've been trying to get my final project ready to print, and I went over it this morning with my tutor, and she okayed it, so I submitted it only for the printer to email me this afternoon and tell me the bleed was wrong. Then when I was fixing the bleed problem, I then discovered another problem with the files I was using. Queue spending three hours trying to get things sorted. Gosh, I'm so stressed I'm taking ages to type this as I keep missing letters.

As a reward for having not had a complete melt down, I bought more comic books! :D I now have ordered/pre-ordered all the Journey Into Mystery issues I can get my hands on. Then I worried because I put the ones that are available in the same order as the ones that aren't out for a little while, so I had to use the contact form and ask whether they delay shipping. This is after Paypal and the comic book store's website had a disagreement that left me wondering whether or not I'd paid (then the emails came through to confirm the order, yay!).

--

Talking of comic books and many tabs open; Stephanie Hans' artwork for the JIM covers is gorgeous, so I have her blog and the cover artwork open, because woooooow. (http://grainedepluie.com/ or http://stephanie-hans.tumblr.com/)

So, pretty much all along I've thought that the Avengers movie is out in May in the UK just like it is in the US, and I was pretty chuffed to realise I'd made a mistake and it's out on April 27!

I was much less pleased to find out that, just like the Avengers movie is out a week before I'd thought, two of my major deadlines are a week early too.

I thought they were all due in on or around May 2 - but no, that's just my research component! Everything else is due on April 25!

Funnily enough, it still puts the majority of my deadlines two days before the Avengers is out.

I now have a document entitled "Get Shit Done" with a guide to just how screwed I am over the next seven and a bit weeks. >:/

I saw Safe House )

That was movie 52! That means that I'm viewing at a rate higher than one a week over the year :D AWESOME! Still so many cool movies to come!

Still to come this month (release order):
- John Carter
(- 21 Jump Street *)
(- We Bought A Zoo**)
(- Contraband **)
- Act of Valor
- The Hunger Games
- Wrath of the Titans

* I'm divided on this one, but leaning towards 'no'.
** Looks interesting, but not interesting enough to push the others down the priority list. Yeah. Crunch time at uni; have to watch fewer movies just as all the ones I want to see come out :/ Irritating, as I feel that all these movies are teaching me things about storytelling, visual narrative, and composition, you know, the very things I am attempting to study.

How to sound professional on the phone:

Printer: Just calling to check whether you received our paper sample pack, and what you thought of our papers?

Me: Oh, yes, I did receive the sample pack, and I liked the papers! But one of the papers I am interested in using wasn't included in the weight I'm after.

Printer: Oh okay, which gsm was that?

Me: Let me just check *have to now get out of bed, queue quilt making a noise* *dying* Ok, it was the 160gsm matt.

Printer: All right, I can get a sample of that for you.

Me: Can I have a sample of the 140gsm uncoated paper too?

Printer: Ok.

Me: I'm hoping to have the files ready by the end of the week. *thinking: this way he'll know I'm keen to use his company*

Printer: All right, I'll get the samples sent to you today.

Oh my god. I had to get out of bed while on the phone to a professional contact. This is why I should have moved over to my desk an hour ago, rather than staying in bed until the house emptied. N brought the phone to me. While I was in bed.

They were by the phone since they're heading to the gym; this means the house is finally empty and I can hog the bathroom for a long shower with a face mask and leave in conditioner without anyone bitching at me (though they may complain when they come home to no hot water *cackles*).

But awkward. Oh my god. I also dropped my laptop on Teyla when I was handed the phone.

>:( I hate that it's assumed that I've bought a new phone and that I can therefore have both SIM cards in use on the day I want my number to switch. Uh no; I bought your SIM-only plan so that I could keep my iPhone 3GS without having to pay £30/month! £13/month is a much friendlier price!

I had to do some odd activation thing in iTunes in order for the phone to work with it's new SIM as well, so lord only knows what would happen if I put the old one in until Tuesday (the earliest available date for my number to switch networks).

If you ask me why I put the new-SIM in today I will cry; Vodafone sends you a text message with a security code that you have to put into the online form before it lets you transfer your number. In order to receive that text message I had to put the SIM into the iPhone.

Why do they sell SIM-only plans and then make it really awkward to get set up and running with them?

Unrelated: I'd forgotten just how into each other Marcus and Esca are in The Eagle. I love this movie *watches to calm down*

Oh great. Everyone hates me now because I screamed because there was a bird flying at my face! A big bird! A blackbird maybe. Except brown with a pale throat.

Then I got into more trouble because it flew around the house a bit before I managed to catch it and throw it outside.

Mum is exceptionally unhappy because she'd left dishes to dry last night and now they all have to be done again.

:(

Today sucks. I've been up for two hours and spent most of that feeling sick and now everyone hates me for waking them up. It's 9am!

I went to the cinema today, and two trailers had me tearing up! First, The Hunger Games - from the look of the advert Lawrence absolutely kills as Katnis! Then, not two minutes later, an advert for The Titanic (3D rerelease) which manipulates you into feeling all the emotions you feel the first time you watch the movie. It even had the old couple! That ad actually had a couple of tears from me.

There were also adverts for John Carter and Wrath of the Titans! Both movies look good from the adverts, and Wrath won extra points for having a woman in sensible armour! A pretty woman! With functional armour! :D It's making me want to finally watch the DVD of Clash of the Titans that I picked up at a fete last year (it's still in it's plastic wrap).

Anyway, today I saw This Means War - spoilers )

Heh. From the way my glasses are resting on my stack of paperwork, it looks like I use reading glasses - for once they've not been left on my bed with the boxes of contact lenses.

I have Phobs' Loki that she drew yesterday frowning at some corgis running in the next Chrome window over from him. It's making me smile every time I look over at the Macbook screen, when Dreamweaver (on the Dell screen attached) is making me frowny.

Dreamweaver is making me less frowny at the moment though, because after four years I've finally got a (very basic) layout for my website together! :D It's based on a combination of the Tumblr layout I'm using (which will be brought into line based on the websites specs) and the site I made for our craft collective. It's white with dark grey text, and is lovely. Now I just need to get all the images ready so that I can do final placement tweaking and then push it live. (Oh god, I also then need to sort out all of my Tumblr links so my website can use it's domain name!)

Loki frowning at corgis is still making me smile more than getting the website started!

Earlier, before I found the corgi gif, Loki would just frown at whatever I was working on, like he was thinking 'pfft, this has you stressed, silly mortal, stop whining'. I like the corgi situation better.

(This is the Phobs drawing of Loki I'm on about :D )

CBS has cast Lucy Liu as Joan Watson to star in their new Sherlock Homes series (Elementary, I think). I do love genderswitch fics, and Lucy is a good actress, so that's going to be great! I do hope, though, that they don't pull a Castle (or SG1) and have an unresolved romantic plotline between Sherlock and Joan that runs for seasons. A good bromance between them would be great though! Like the BBC series, where they can be seen as together or not, with a running 'he's not my boyfriend' thing, so that shippers can ship, and everyone else sees bromance, and everyone is happy.

What worries me about Joan Watson is that she's not got a military background and she's incompetent enough to have her license to practice medicine taken away. I like military!Watson, I also like him being a doctor - a good doctor, so it's sad they've taken that away from her. I don't see why they couldn't keep it in. Grey's Anatomy has an ex-Army female talented surgeon, Teddy Altman. OK she doesn't have the trauma storyline about the war the way Owen Hunt does, but think, they could have gone down that route for Joan Watson - wouldn't that have been interesting?

Still, should the show ever reach the UK, I'll watch it.

Bit behind on my movie posts, the last one I posted about was three movies ago! Since seeing Chronicle, I've seen The Vow, The Muppets and One for the Money. All three were watchable, but I won't be going to any of them for a rewatch. When they hit the movie channels I'll watch them again!

Spoilers )

I've now seen 50 movies since I began keeping track. Fifty! That's a lot of movies. A lot of hours in the cinema, and there are still so many movies left to see this year! Most of the movies I'm really looking forward to this year haven't been released yet; The Avengers, both Snow White offerings, Battleship (come on, it's a movie, from the board game :D but with aliens and Alexander Skarsgard thrown in), and Act of Valor (real SEALS!), The Hunger Games, the Spiderman movie, the GI Joe sequel (The Rock! Bruce Willis!), The Dark Knight Rises, and the new Bourne movie!

I think some of those technically come out next year, according to my cinema card years, but they're all 2012 movies I am excited to see.

Of all the movies I've seen thusfar in year 2, I think that my favourite is a tie between Sherlock Holmes and War Horse - though MI:4 does tie with War Horse in terms of number of times seen, War Horse pulls through to match with Sherlock because of the stunning cinematography, scale and emotional manipulation it crams in. X-Men would beat all of them for number of watches if the year started a month earlier, and still holds the record number of cinema watches of a film at 5. The latest Sherlock Holmes movie would still win though, as in addition to the wonderful relationships between the characters and the interesting story, it has that awesome sequence between the factory and the train. The way that is shot is just... perfect. (War Horse may, in fact, be a really close #2.)

Oh that was good; last night I bought a Betty Crocker pancake mix carton, and I just had pancakes for lunch! Four with cheese and two with Nutella! :D Just as well I bought myself mix; Mum is lactose intolerant and also can't eat eggs, so no pancakes for her, and this morning as I was walking out the door to go to uni, my brother and his girlfriend were mixing batter for themselves.

Tonight, because Mum can't have pancakes, I'm going to make burritos! The tortilla will have to stand in for the pancakes she can't eat. I'm making a different mix to go in them; normally I make them with spiced chicken or minced beef and beans, but tonight I'm going to make a diced turkey chili and bean mix instead. I'm thinking I'll make a turkey chili but let it thicken up more than if it was going to be served as a chili with rice. Mmmm.

I recorded Homeland on Sunday and I'm watching it now. It's only fifteen minutes in, but it's looking good thus far!

Oh and I forgot to mention my contact lenses!

My eyes need toric lenses, so they have to be ordered in. I recently had two trials of a more expensive lens, the first trial to try the lenses, the second because my right eye needed to a prescription adjustment with the new lenses. I was happy with the second trial, so after talking it over in a contact lens check with the optician, I asked for the second prescription to be ordered in the new lenses.

I had to wait for them to arrive at the store, then couldn't pick them up for a further couple of days. When I picked them up, I specifically told the lady who works the contact counter that it was a new prescription so could she put which boxes were for which eye on the box (there are L and R tick boxes printed on the boxes of lenses for this purpose; Specsavers use a R sticker to differentiate them when you get them delivered).

Of course I trusted that it would be correct, and the R mark was on the other end of the box to the prescription notice so it wasn't until I had opened the box I realised that the right lens prescription I'd been given was wrong!

I had to go in today, and now I've got to wait another five days for the correct prescription to come in. Not once when I was in the store did they admit it was their mistake, and not once did they apologise for the fact I've now paid for three weeks that I haven't actually had lenses for.

Ouch. Not only is there no edible chocolate in the house, I've just had a call from the garage; PJ had a spark going off of the spark leads to elsewhere that was causing the engine misfire, which has been fixed, but she also needs a new power steering pump. £260, plus VAT, plus fitting just for that to be fixed.

They're also having to sort the driver's side headlight because the guy at Halfords couldn't get the old bulb out, said something about a metal pin where it shouldn't have been, or the wrong metal or something. Whatever the problem, it's going to mean I'm charged for more time.

Oh man, I'd forgotten that Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston were up against each other for Rising Star at the BAFTAs. The guy, Redmayne?, from Birdsong was up for it also, but they all lost to a guy I've never heard of and I didn't recognise the clips they played. :( Given how long I spend at the cinema, or looking at material to select movies to watch at the cinema, I find it very odd.

Stephen Fry is wonderful, and doing an absolutely fantastic job presenting.

Still sad that Hiddleston didn't win :( He absolutely stole the movie in Thor. He's been brilliant in everything I've seen him in.

Also sad that War Horse didn't win the effects BAFTA. The horse was so wonderful; there was no difference between the horse they created and the trained animal. It was seamless.

Watching the BAFTAs is fun; I've seen many of the movies, or I'm much more aware of them from having spent so much time in the cinema than I would have been last year.
